New Project Announcement (May 2023)
Hello everybody, I have an announcement to make. I'm working on a brand new project this year.
The project in question is a short documentary which I shall be directing. The logline; An exploration of a public meltdown caused by the Covid-19 lockdown. In other words, the documentary observes the impact that the lockdown, which was imposed on us in response to the coronavirus, had on people who experienced mental health issues in response.
I usually tend to write narrative films. In addition, during most of the pandemic, I was in a particularly mentally instable position to write anything in relation to the pandemic. However, because there are a number of people whose mental health was affected by the lockdown and who have not had a chance to give their say, I believe that now's the time to knuckle down on this documentary. This should provide the opportunity for people to speak out; those who've not been used to staying 24/7 in their own homes, who were bullied on social media just for stating harmless opinions, who saw no hope for the future, who understood what it was like to be over-protected from the outside world, etc.
The shooting times have yet to be confirmed. But I'm looking for interviewees to participate - in particular, those who experienced elements of claustrophobia, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, other struggles, were victims of domestic abuse, cyber bullying, etc, and/or experienced death within families/friends. If you experienced or know anybody who experienced those struggles throughout much of the lockdown, it would be awesome to hear from you.
The plan is to film most of the documentary around Leicestershire, my home county, due to budget-related reasons and it would be ideal to conduct some interviews in-person. However, I am open to conduct interviews via Zoom by all means (I suppose it has been common since the pandemic after all).
In addition, I'm looking to interview a mental health practitioner, so again, if you work as or know someone who works as a practitioner, please do let me know.
Thank you.
