Save My Mind
Hello, once again. So via my last post, I mentioned that I was moving house. Well, now I have, I'm settling in fine and I'm back. And of course, I make it mandatory for myself to post something at least once a month.
As this week is Mental Health Awareness week, I want to share you guys a project I was recently involved in; a documentary which is about the different aspects of mental health. It's called Save My Mind. It's been produced and directed by a local filmmaker named Shalina Casey. Do feel free to take a look. I must point out that there are some elements of the film which some viewers may find distressing.
It's been great to work with Shalina on this project and I think it's awesome that she's shown some determination in allowing the participants of this documentary to talk about their experiences. One of them has got anxiety, another suffers from depression. Mental health has increased a lot in relevancy ever since the lockdown, which even I myself can relate to. It goes to show that to talk about our struggles can really benefit us. But I shall allow you lot to comment further.
Shalina and myself both live in Leicestershire. But that's not how I first got to know her. I once read one of her feature film scripts (which once won an international award for Best Feature Film Script. She asked around and I volunteered to take a look. From what I saw, Shalina has proved to possess great storytelling skills and some very subtle aspects to the themes covered. I shan't give anymore details in case I spoil the film. Shalina is very cooperative and when you work with her, the experience will prove that no one should ever judge those with ADHD by the cover. And going back to Save My Mind, not only do I admire the themes that were covered, but I'm personally impressed with the work done on the animations for the intro and the special effects constructed for some of the early shots. For me, it's given me an idea on how to edit some of my future projects.

Speaking of mental health and documentaries, one final announcement; I myself have got a documentary in the making. This one is also based on mental health, but it focuses fully on how the 2020/2021 lockdown affected people's mental health. It's currently under the pre-production process. But more on that later. Watch this space.
